History

Access HR is part of the Civitas Strategies family of companies. Civitas Strategies, a management consultancy for public-serving organizations was founded in 2010. As Civitas Strategies grew, so did the human resources services finally leading to the creation of Access HR in 2017 as a vehicle solely focused on providing cost-effective human resources services. 

Lean Recruitment takes you step-by-step through our proprietary approach to recruiting. Any organization can easily follow the instructions, examples, and templates to improve their talent pipeline using existing staff.

The Principals

Gary Romano

President & CEO

Gary Romano is an award-winning strategist, author, and advisor for nonprofit leaders and entrepreneurs whose work has helped grow national and regional organizations, move startups to stable state, and bring new ideas to market. He is the published author of two books, Small But Mighty, which is helping entrepreneurs to launch and grow nonprofit consultancies, and Lean Recruitment, an innovative system to cost-effectively recruit talent. Gary is a SHRM Certified Senior Professional and has a Master’s in Urban Affairs and Planning and a Bachelor’s in Political Science. Gary is a history buff with multiple published magazine articles on ancient strategy and an ever-growing collection of Greek and Roman coins.

Alison LaRocca

Director

Alison LaRocca has partnered with clients to recruit and develop quality talent for the past five years.  This experience informed the co-development of the Lean Recruitment model and book. Prior, Alison was an educator at Community Day Charter Public School in Lawrence, MA, educating some of Massachusetts' most vulnerable children. She has a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Merrimack College, and her Bachelor's degree from Williams College. Alison is passionate about dance and the performing arts and serves on the Albany Berkshire Ballet Board of Directors.

Take Stock in Children is one of the largest college readiness organizations in the US helping over 8,600 children move out of poverty through higher education each year. Take Stock in Children used Lean Recruitment to hire four senior and mid-level positions. They were so impressed with the results that it was shared for use by their statewide affiliate network.
